EPDM and VITON are two different O-ring materials, and there are some differences between them.

EPDM is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene, with no double chains in the main chain. Therefore, it has excellent heat resistance, aging resistance, ozone resistance, and stability, making it an excellent material for manufacturing O-rings. Its disadvantage is that it is not recommended for food use or exposure to aromatic hydrogen, and is not suitable for use in high-temperature water vapor environments.

VITON fluororubber refers to a polymer synthetic material containing fluorine elements, which has excellent high-temperature resistance, oil resistance, chemical resistance, and radiation resistance. However, it also has some drawbacks, such as poor resistance to certain polar solvents and the generation of harmful substances when used in high-temperature environments.

Therefore, when selecting O-ring materials, it is necessary to choose according to the specific situation. If you need high performance requirements such as high temperature resistance, oil resistance, and chemical resistance, you can choose an O-ring made of EPDM or VITON fluororubber. If a long-lasting and durable seal is required, it is recommended to choose an O-ring made of EPDM because it has better ozone resistance and stability. If it is necessary to use in high-temperature steam environments, it is recommended to choose other types of seals, as EPDM is not suitable for use in such environments.
