An O-ring is a rubber sealing ring with a circular cross-section, hence it is called an O-ring. It is a common sealing element widely used in various mechanical equipment, and plays a sealing role in specified temperatures, pressures, and different liquid and gas media under static or moving conditions.

O-shaped rubber seals are usually made of rubber materials, such as butyl rubber (NBR), acrylic rubber, fluororubber (FPM), etc. Different rubber materials have different characteristics, so corresponding rubber materials can be selected according to different sealing tasks to meet their special requirements. For example, butyl rubber has good heat resistance and airtightness, can resist the invasion of sunlight and ozone, and has good insulation, making it suitable for high temperature and corrosive environments. Fluorosilicon rubber combines the advantages of silicone rubber and fluororubber, possessing excellent oil resistance, fuel resistance, and solvent resistance. It can also resist the erosion of oxygen-containing compounds, fluorinated solvents, and aromatic solvents, making it suitable for military and aerospace fields.

In the manufacturing process, the O-ring rubber seal needs to go through a series of processing steps, such as raw material mixing, molding, pressing, and vulcanization. Raw material mixing is the process of evenly mixing rubber materials, processing aids, etc., and pre-treatment by a mixer to obtain a certain degree of plasticity and processability. Then, the mixed raw materials are pressed using a mold and molded using a high-pressure molding machine or extruder. Finally, vulcanization treatment is carried out, which can shape and stabilize the rubber material.
